The new version of the Shenandoah has a baffle made of metal so squirrels won’t be able to chew through it. If you experience any difficulty during installation, just watch the videos on Squirrel Stopper’s website to guide you through. The instructions are included in the package and are easy to follow anyway. Just make sure you follow the instructions on how to install the baffle properly, else it won’t be effective. It’s very successful at turning squirrels away. The Shenandoah is equipped with its very own squirrel stopper right in the middle of the post. Hooray for having more bird feed for the birds! I was watching a squirrel attempt to climb up the other day, but it didn’t make it. The cone-like shaped baffle is heavy for the squirrels. Now, here’s the real deal breaker: the squirrel stopper. This is great in preventing rust build-up. The steel is powder-coated and you can see that it has a thick, dense finish unlike that of a painted one. The Squirrel Stopper pole has a detachable, bird-perching Victorian design at the top that makes it more attractive, not only to birds but even to humans. I admit I was worried last month because there was a strong gust of wind and I forgot to take it down for a while. So what I did was find a spot with more compact soil to prevent the risk of the pole falling over. However, when I initially screwed it in clay soil, I saw that it wobbles a bit. Its screw-like bottom for base made the pole resistant to strong wind. The four arms can house a feeder each, or you can add a water bath or maybe even nesting materials for the birds. Its pole frame has 2-inch tubes that can stand at around 6-feet high each. The parts are of quality and easy to assemble. And wow, this 16-gauge black steel pole and baffle system is the bomb! If you’re looking for a bird feeder pole, might as well find one that has its own squirrel protection for bird feeders, right? I bought my own Squirrel Stopper SQC05 because it is one of the most popular ones with incorporated squirrel proofing. But other items such as regular pole mounted bird feeders are fine and can be held well. In essence, don’t place planters on the hooks. You can easily see that you can’t hang very heady items, else the hooks themselves will bend to the weight, even if the pole can handle it. My only concern with this bird feeder pole is that the hooks themselves are a bit flimsy. It is tall enough anyway, so you have a lot of leeways. I would, however, recommend that the attachments not be placed too low on the ground else squirrels can reach up and climb. Two of the hooks can be repositioned throughout the pole as it is attached to the pole with a clamp and a wingnut. As I previously mentioned, I like that it has many accessories attached to it: four hooks, a birdbath, and a mesh tray. It has been painted well so I haven’t seen any rusting, even if it has been exposed to rain for some time. The pole itself is about one inch in diameter and made of durable metal. This Deluxe Bird Feeding Station for Outdoors is one of my favorites for this purpose. Shepherd hooks I can place in other parts of my property, but since I want a central location where my family and my guests can enjoy the view of several types of birds feeding at once, I like looking into poles with multiple appendages. If you’re an avid bird enthusiast like me, having multi-use feeder poles is essential.
